↳ USER REPORT

A sound, and then nothing, on the Mac.

A user reports that Siri on their MacBook Air stopped responding to voice, the app, and the keyboard shortcut, while Siri on their iPhone kept working.

The record

In a post dated October 3, 2024, a user with a 13-inch MacBook Air on macOS 14.7 says Siri could no longer be started by voice, by opening the app, or by the shortcut, which produced only a short tone. When they re-enabled voice activation, the setup step did not recognize the sample phrase and kept asking them to retry. They list a long set of attempts, including restarts, toggling Siri and voice activation, turning Siri off and on in iCloud, deleting Siri history, toggling Wi-Fi, and checking sound settings. The poster was unsure whether a recent update was involved, and this is one person’s report.
