↳ USER REPORT

Ask the phone to play in the office. Hear about a problem.

A user reports that asking Siri on their iPhone to play music on a pair of HomePod minis in another room returned an error, though the same kind of request to a Sonos speaker worked.

The record

In a post dated March 24, 2021, a user who had just set up two HomePod minis in their office says that asking Siri on their iPhone to play music in that room led Siri to report a problem. They note that speaking directly to the HomePods worked, and that the same phrasing aimed at a Sonos Beam in their living room had always worked from the phone. They speculate that the difference might come from how the iPhone hands playback off to each speaker, but they were not sure. This reflects one user’s setup and should not be read as typical behavior.
